What I'm doing now

Updated 2/7/25

If we haven’t seen each other in a year, these are some of the things I might tell you.

Some things I do most days of the week: read, exercise, meditate, spend time outside, cook, code/build, jiu jitsu, write.

Carla and I are in the process of moving back to Austin. In fall 2022, shortly after our wedding, we decided to move to Brownsville so she could start a business (holla Studio CM). The intention was to lighten our financial load while she built the business up then move back to Austin when we have our bearings. We did it, and it’s a great feeling. It was hard and worth it and significantly changed us as individuals and as a couple.

I’ve recently realized that creating helps my wellbeing, so I try doing it every day. Mostly I code and write. It helps with expression. This website and the blog are products of this realization.

To start 2025, Carla and I completed the Whole 30 (only eat meat, seafood, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts. No dairy, sugar, alcohol, legumes, processed food). Holy shit what an awesome experience. I’m yet to reintroduce anything to my diet because I feel amazing. Why do I share this here? Because I am constantly tempted to get preachy about it so I’m giving myself permission to say something here.

I’ve been practicing jiu jitsu since November 2023. I absolutely love it. The exercise, the clearly measured progress, the community and friendships, the challenge, all of it. Highly, highly recommend if you’re at all curious about the sport.

That’s about it. These are the main pillars of our life right now.
